e-Skills: Supply or Demand?
Western nations need an e-skills policy that reflects the future and their aspirations in respect of the IT supply chain.
Should there be concerted efforts in both the academic and industrial arenas to grow capability in skills such as programming, architecture, testing and system administration?
Or should the focus be on skills related to the user condition, business intelligence and collaboration?
One group is supply focused, the other demand focused.
One group will form the talent pool for the major outsourcing vendors. The other will be the customer.
Nations concerned about where they sit in the value chain needs to make some tough decisions now.
