In the C-Suite – Being occasionally world class
The European Athletics Championships has just ended. Another example of protectionism perhaps, keeping the Americans out of the sprints and the Africans out of the longer distances so that we can look good?
France, UK and Russia can pat themselves on the back in the medal haul, but it is not dissimilar to contriving the birthday party invites so that your child can ‘win the prizes’.
I am being harsh and slightly tongue in cheek of course.
But there are economic parallels. The only difference is that competing in a global market is not limited to a few weeks every couple of years.
We need to be world class everyday.
