If the plan is to move from being the only manager in the organisation with a CxO title to being a boardroom-present digital leader, then there is a little bit of brand surgery to be done.
Paraphrasing some of the advice given in a recent HBR article:
- Define what the new public you will look like.
- Massage your history to highlight evidence supporting the new you.
- Make all transactions with the world going forward reflect the new you.
- Seek opportunities that add substance to the associated reputation you need to build.

Ensure your IT shop works properly either by getting your house in order or preferably by getting someone else to do so.
