The Future: Sustainagility
Sustainability looks at meeting our present needs whilst making provision for our needs to be met in the future. Sustainagility is taking an agile approach to sustainability.
Why care? Well increasingly in a global market, sustainability will not be possible without agility. Those nimble organisations that can surf the volatile market waves will win. Thus we need to bring agility to the forefront when we consider sustainability.
So sustainagility allows us to stay in the game. But now that the game can change in months and seconds, new technology has a key role to play in keeping us in the game. In particular by supporting:
- An agile organisational infrastructure
- Cost-efficiency
- Innovation
I wish I had thought up that word. But alas no. Patrick Dixon, Futurist and Johan Gorecki, CEO of Global Forum did that. Their book of the same name applies this thinking to the higher endeavour of protecting the planet in a corporately relevant manner.
