Trust me!
Trust is like a delicate flower. It grows at a pace that suits the flower. And if you try to rush the process by pulling it you will permanently damage the flower. So any statement expressed verbally or in writing that implies you / your organisation is trustworthy is at best an aspiration and will more likely be perceived as old fashion ‘win-lose’ sales tactics.
A key element of trust is intimacy. It is not something you can buy. Very few people are impressed by those who ignore this reality.
So if you are looking to avoid a ‘slap’ I suggest the next time you meet a new client you resist the urge to sell your services until you have sold yourself. If you are in the ‘big ticket’ league, building trust will take more than one meeting.
