Who in your boardroom is the weakest link?

It is very easy and even quite fashionable to berate CIOs for their lack of strategic influence. But more often than not the business leaders themselves are doing little to address the lack of digital leadership in the top team.

I would suggest that organisations review the relationship between each CxO and the CIO.

Given the importance of digital it is fair to say that the organisation’s future will only be as strong as the weakest CxO-CIO relationship.

Having established the weakest link, CEO needs to challenge the CxO concerned to address this. If all the CIO-CxO links are weak then it may well be time for a CIO upgrade.
