What is a Neural network?

A neural network is a computational model made up of interconnected processing units arranged in layers. Inspired loosely by the structure of biological brains, it learns by adjusting the strength of connections as it is exposed to examples, enabling it to recognise patterns and make predictions.

Neural networks are a foundation of much modern AI. Intelligent organisations should view them as pattern-learning engines rather than digital brains: they can discover relationships that would be difficult to encode as rules, but the quality of their outputs depends heavily on their training data, design and context of use.
