What is Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)?

Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is a hypothetical form of AI capable of sensing, reasoning, learning and acting across a broad range of domains without being limited to a specific task. Unlike today's specialised AI systems, AGI would be able to transfer knowledge between contexts, adapt to novel situations and pursue complex objectives with human-level or greater general intelligence.


It is important to point out that even though the term intelligence is used, if AGI was to become a reality it would not be based on human intelligence, unless the discipline of neuroscience makes significant advances in the meantime.
