What is Autonomous AI?

Autonomous AI is a form of AI that can sense, decide and act independently within defined parameters, without requiring continuous human oversight. Its autonomy is typically limited to a specific task or operational domain.

While autonomous AI operates independently, agentic AI extends this capability by autonomously pursuing objectives, adapting its behaviour and coordinating actions to achieve desired outcomes.

Both are autonomous AI and agentic AI are autonomous. The difference is, perhaps unsurprisingly, that Agentic AI has agency in terms of how it reaches the desired outcome.
