What is Business as usual?

Business as usual describes the routine operation of an organisation, where established processes, structures and behaviours continue without significant change.

The concept of business as usual emerged in an era when markets, technologies and customer expectations changed relatively slowly. Today, many organisations can no longer assume that yesterday's operating model will remain fit for purpose.

Intelligent organisations replace the notion of business as usual with continuous sensing, adaptation and improvement, making change an integral part of everyday operations rather than an occasional transformation programme.
