What is Digital twins?

Digital twins are virtual representations of physical assets, processes, systems or even entire organisations that are continuously updated using real-world data. By mirroring the state and behaviour of their real-world counterparts, digital twins enable organisations to monitor performance, simulate scenarios, predict outcomes and optimise decisions without directly affecting the physical system.


Digital twins are becoming increasingly important as organisations seek to improve their ability to sense, decide and act. When combined with AI, they can support predictive maintenance, operational optimisation, scenario planning and strategic decision-making.


In an Intelligent Organisation, digital twins contribute to organisational intelligence by providing a dynamic model through which potential decisions can be explored before they are implemented in the real world.
