What is HR (Human resources)?
HR (human resources) is the department responsible for all elements of people management, acquisition, discipline, development and dismissal. In a traditional organisation the worker is treated as a resource, rather than an asset. As is the case with resources, the focus is on zero waste. Thus HR is often focused on extracting the most from people as opposed to getting the best from them.
This inhuman mindset is a natural consequence of industrial era / factory practice.
Forward thinking organisations see people as assets, recognising that when treated well, they are a deep source of creativity and innovation. Such traits are essential when navigating increasing disruption.
