What is Human-in-the-Loop?
Human-in-the-Loop describes an AI operating model in which a person is an active part of the decision or action process. The AI may analyse information, generate options or recommend an action, but a human contribution or approval is required before the process can be completed.
For intelligent organisations, Human-in-the-Loop provides a way to combine machine speed and scale with human judgement, accountability and contextual awareness. It is particularly valuable where decisions are consequential, ambiguous or require values-based judgement, although excessive human involvement can reduce the speed and autonomy benefits of AI.
