What is Human-out-of-the-Loop?

Human-out-of-the-Loop describes an AI operating model in which the system can make decisions and take actions without human approval or real-time supervision. People may define the objectives, constraints and governance arrangements in advance, but they are not involved in the individual decisions made during operation.

For intelligent organisations, Human-out-of-the-Loop offers the greatest potential for speed, scale and autonomous operation, but it also creates the greatest governance challenge. It is most appropriate where objectives and boundaries are clear, consequences are tolerable and the system can be trusted to operate safely within defined constraints.
