What is Information?

Unlike data, information is useful. Data might be considered the jigsaw pieces and information the jigsaw. The terms are used interchangeably and in some cases they are one in the same. The heartrate monitor collects data. How the person interprets that data turns it into information.

Data management systems focus on the management of data. Information management systems turn that data into something of value to the users.
