What is talent?

The term talent is used to describe the workforce in a manner that implies they it is much more than a pool of resources. In that sense it represents an enlightened perspective on the workforce. But it is a misnomer because it implies that all employees have some sort of innate ability that obviates the need for development, ie learning specific skills.

The alternative term ‘people’ has been gaining traction over the last couple of decades.
