What is Deciding?

Intelligent organisations continuously sense, decide and act in real-time. This is how they remain aligned with their environment. To decide is to use the data generated by the organisation’s sensing systems to choose the next step.

Deciding also includes sensemaking. The senses capture the data and the cognitive faculties make sense of it in order to optimise decision making.

In many respects, the ability to decide swiftly is a manifestation of intellectual intelligence. In an increasingly disruptive world, organisations that can decide quickly are more likely to remain viable.
