What is ubiquitous leadership?

Ubiquitous leadership is a leadership model where all members of the organisation enjoy some degree of autonomy, thus enabling them to respond in real-time to local threats and opportunities.


This is in stark contrast to centralised leadership where control is held by one or a few leaders.


Ubiquitous leadership is very aligned with living systems. Each person is akin to a living cell. In living systems each cell senses, decides and acts in a manner that best serves the organisation’s purpose. 


Please note that this is not the same as a leaderless organisation. Intelligent organisations distribute authority across the workforce as much as is sensible, but no more.
